Governance
We are a registered charity, regulated by the Charity Commission of England and Wales, which means we are legally bound to meet the high standards set for charities in England and Wales. We are also registered as a company limited by guarantee. Our charity number is 1210347, and our company number is 15612856.
Being a charitable company allows us to generate income through activities like selling products or offering training courses, all while adhering to the strict regulations that govern charities. Any profits we make are reinvested directly into our work, helping us expand our services and help more people - all for the purposes set out in our charitable objects.
Our charitable objects are:
To promote and protect the mental health of neurodivergent people for the public benefit by raising awareness and understanding among the general public of the specific challenges neurodivergent people experience in maintaining their mental health, and the increased risks they face and by providing a range of helpful tools, support, and information including online and through a mobile app.
For the purpose of this clause, neurodivergent people means people with conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia, Autism, ADHD, Tic disorders (such as Tourette's), and other neurological or developmental conditions.
These objects form part of our governing documents and constitution.
We are committed to operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability in everything we do. Our mission to support the mental health of neurodivergent individuals is at the heart of our governance structure, ensuring that our resources are used effectively and ethically.

Board of Trustees
Our work is overseen by a Board of Trustees, each with a strong commitment to our mission. The Trustees provide strategic guidance, ensure that we meet our charitable objectives, and safeguard the charity's assets. The Board is composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including charity leadership, mental health advocacy, and lived experience. The Trustees meet regularly to review our performance, approve our plans, and ensure we are staying true to our goals. Their role is to challenge us to continually improve, while maintaining the highest standards of governance and ethical practice.
Decision-making and accountability
All major decisions, including financial management, service development, and partnerships, are approved by the Board to ensure they align with our long-term vision and values. We value transparency in how we operate. To maintain accountability to our donors, supporters, and beneficiaries, we we publish detailed financial reports and updates on the impact of our work. We aim to ensure that every pound raised is used effectively to support neurodivergent individuals and their mental health needs.
Lived experience
At neurobetter, lived experience is integral to our governance. Many of our Trustees and volunteers have personal experience with neurodivergence and mental health, or have supported loved ones through their journeys.
We are also establishing a number of Working Groups, which include Trustees, volunteers and people who use our services on a day-to-day basis.
